Project Read PHONICS - Initial Training for Teachers in Grades 1-3
This in person professional development will lead teachers through a systematic order of phonics skills using direct instruction and visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile, and body language teaching strategies. This professional development is open to those who service 1st through 3rd grade.

High School Guidebook 2020 Unit Study – 1984 (12th Grade)
During this session, English teachers will explore the upcoming Guidebook 2020 unit. They will determine the value of the unit, review the unit goals and culminating task, and collaborate together to analyze the unit texts and assessments in preparation for instruction. Participants will utilize the Unit Study Tool during this process.

Before attending this PD, a few actions would be helpful for teacher preparedness:
1. Read the anchor text for the upcoming unit.
2. Skim the list of supplemental unit texts.
3. Read and annotate the Unit Overview and Companion Guide for the unit. These are located in the district Google classroom for the grade-level.
4. Note any questions, comments or concerns you have about the text, unit materials, supplemental resources, etc.

Participants will learn implementation strategies, how to select personal core, to build communication for a variety of high interest and academic activities and to facilitate focused language stimulation using core word units.
